If your local community is home to a further education college (i.e., a non-statutory provider of 14-19 education), if you are an education or chaplaincies officer for your denomination or involved in church-related youth or community work, we can support your work by:
- Helping you develop and articulate Christian commitment to further education and lifelong learning as a sphere of ministry and service
- Facilitating partnerships with further education/lifelong learning providers in areas of mutual interest
- Acting as a forum for the region’s churches to become informed about further education and the churches’ work with the sector
Further Education Sunday - 15 May 2022
The first thing you can do for your local college is to pray for the staff and students, and the work that colleges do! To help churches do this, we’ve launched FE Sunday, held for the first time on 15 May 2022. Churches around the region and nationally are getting involved! Head over to our FE Sunday page to find out more.
WM Further Education Chaplaincy Ambassador
Interested in opportunities to engage with your local college? Based in Birmingham, Black Country, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire or Worcestershire? The WM region has its very own Further Education Chaplaincy Ambassador, Nigel Roberts, who can help support and facilitate partnerships between colleges and local churches/faith communities. This initiative has been jointly funded and supported by the Anglican Dioceses of Coventry and Lichfield, the Heart of England Baptist Association, WM Synod of the URC and St Peter’s Saltley Trust, with support from the West Midlands Churches’ FE Council. Contact Nigel at: fechaplaincy[at]saltleytrust.org.uk
Want to know about FE Chaplaincy? Watch our videos!
WMCFEC are proud to present 5 short films on Further Education and Chaplaincy, produced by Mazo Creative Agency and made in partnership with three colleges in our region: North Warwickshire & South Leicestershire College, Burton & South Derbyshire College, and Halesowen College. Access the playlist here or by clicking on the image above.
Working with your Local College - Workshop for Churches
Does your church or group of churches neighbour a further education college, and you’d like to know how to relate to it better? Members of WM Churches’ FE Council are available to come and speak at church councils, circuit meetings, deanery chapters, ministers’ gatherings or similar. We can brief you on the shape of the further education sector and opportunities to partner creatively with your local college.
Please contact us to chat further about this.
